TRE Dictionary

Pickup Window

A pickup window is the stated range of time or dates during which the mover is expected to arrive to begin pickup or loading.

In plain English

It tells the customer when the crew or truck may arrive, not how long loading will take or when the shipment will reach destination.

Load Spread and Pickup Spread

In moving operations, load spread and pickup spread describe an agreed range of pickup or loading dates. TRE keeps those date-range meanings here as alternate labels. A window can also describe hours within one day, so confirm which meaning the provider intends.

For example, September 16–18 is a three-date range; it does not promise pickup on the 16th or an arrival hour on any date. Record when the specific day will be confirmed, the notice you will receive and who must be available.

For a particular-day commitment, read Day-Certain Service. For a faster or by-date transportation arrangement, read Expedited Service. Neither label alone specifies the complete pickup and delivery plan.

Why it matters

Confusing arrival range with service duration creates scheduling problems for customers, buildings, crews, and dispatch. For covered interstate moves, pickup and delivery dates or periods should be reflected consistently in the move documents.

TRE common-language definition

Pickup Window: The agreed range during which pickup service is expected to begin.

Delivery Window · Delivery Spread · Transit Time

Sources & Evidence

Operating-practice note: The exact format of a pickup window can vary by mover and service model; TRE uses the term for the agreed range in which pickup is expected to begin.
