Transit Time

Transit time is the elapsed transportation period between pickup and delivery, or between defined points in the shipment journey.

In plain English

It is how long the shipment takes to move through the transportation network.

Why it matters

Transit time can be affected by distance, routing, consolidation, capacity, weather, regulations, storage, and delivery scheduling. It should not be confused with a guaranteed delivery appointment.
