TRE Dictionary

Full Service

Full service is a broad service description used to suggest that a provider will perform several parts of a move. The label alone does not identify every task, exclusion, or charge.

Service scope and move type: Full service describes the agreed tasks. It does not determine whether a move is local, intrastate, or interstate, or which pricing and consumer-protection rules apply.

In plain English

Ask what the provider will actually do. Packing, loading, transport, delivery, unpacking, assembly, crating, appliance work, and debris removal are distinct tasks. A package may include some and exclude others.

Who this affects

Customer · Sales · Operations · Packing crew · Driver · Specialist providers

Where this sits in the move

Service selection → Estimate → Preparation → Execution → Completion

Stakeholder perspectives

A customer may hear “everything is handled.” Sales may mean a standard package. Operations and crews need an itemized scope they can execute.

Responsibility and handoff

List included tasks, materials, preparation requirements, specialty services, destination work, exclusions, and charges. Identify who performs each task and what the customer must complete before the crew arrives.

Common misunderstanding

Full-service packing describes packing scope; it does not establish the scope of the entire relocation. A vague label can leave work unfinished or create unexpected costs.

TRE common-language definition

Full service: A defined package of relocation tasks whose included services, exclusions, responsibilities, and charges are documented for the specific move.

Packing · Crating · Unpacking · White Glove · Change of Scope

Sources & Evidence

This is a proposed TRE operating definition, not a universal legal service package. FMCSA’s interstate moving guidance emphasizes a written estimate describing service charges. The actual agreement and applicable jurisdiction govern the move.

Moving within a state
