TRE Dictionary
Virtual Survey
A virtual survey is a moving survey completed remotely using live video, recorded video, photographs, digital forms, or other technology instead of an estimator physically visiting the residence.
In plain English
The goal is the same as an in-person survey: understand the shipment and the conditions surrounding it well enough to estimate and plan the move.
Why it matters
Virtual surveys can improve speed and convenience, but accuracy still depends on complete rooms, closets, garages, access conditions, specialty items, and customer communication being captured.
TRE common-language definition
Virtual Survey: A remote process for collecting the inventory and operating information needed to estimate and plan a move.
