## Virtual Survey

A **virtual survey** is a moving survey completed remotely using live video, recorded video, photographs, digital forms, or other technology instead of an estimator physically visiting the residence.

### In plain English

The goal is the same as an in-person survey: understand the shipment and the conditions surrounding it well enough to estimate and plan the move.

### Why it matters

Virtual surveys can improve speed and convenience, but accuracy still depends on complete rooms, closets, garages, access conditions, specialty items, and customer communication being captured.

### TRE common-language definition

> **Virtual Survey:** A remote process for collecting the inventory and operating information needed to estimate and plan a move.
