## Permanent Storage

**Permanent storage** is longer-term storage that is no longer treated as temporary storage connected to the active transportation of a shipment.

### In plain English

The goods have moved into an ongoing storage relationship rather than simply waiting briefly for final delivery.

### Why it matters

Billing, access, liability or insurance, warehouse terms, inventory control, and release procedures may differ once a shipment converts from transportation-related storage to permanent storage.
