## Packing

**Packing** is the process of preparing goods for transportation using cartons, wrap, padding, containers, or other protective materials.

### In plain English

Packing turns loose household items into units that can be handled and transported more safely.

### Why it matters

Who packs, what is packed, when it is packed, and what materials are used can affect labor, price, damage exposure, valuation questions, and customer expectations.

### Who this affects

Customer · Estimator · Packing crew · Driver

### Where this sits in the move

Survey → Preparation → Packing → Loading

### Stakeholder perspectives

Customers and crews need a shared answer to who packs which goods, using what materials, and by when.

### Responsibility and handoff

Identify customer-packed and mover-packed items, specialty handling, labels, and unfinished preparation.

### Common misunderstanding

Packing does not automatically include crating, appliance disconnection, unpacking, or debris removal.

### TRE common-language definition
