**TRE Dictionary**

**Day-certain service** is an arrangement for a specified moving event on an agreed date rather than within a multi-day range. Identify the event: loading and delivery are separate commitments, and a date does not necessarily specify an arrival hour.

## Day-certain loading

This concerns pickup or loading on the agreed day. Ask whether the service means pickup from your residence, loading for long-distance transport or another milestone. It does not alone establish when delivery will occur.

[Allied’s 2019 tariff, item 308](https://avlnavlblob.blob.core.windows.net/allied-com/docs/default-source/tariff/allv-2a-rules-and-regulations-8-1-2019.pdf?sfvrsn=c0e174fb%5F0&ref=relocationecosystem.com), illustrates a separately defined day-certain loading service that can include movement through an agent’s warehouse. This is a historical terminology example, not current eligibility, pricing or a universal promise of direct transport.

## Day-certain delivery

This concerns delivery on the specified day rather than within a [delivery spread](https://relocationecosystem.com/delivery-spread/). Confirm the destination and whether the commitment covers arrival, unloading or another defined event.

[United’s Snapmoves service page](https://www.unitedvanlines.com/moving-services/snapmoves?ref=relocationecosystem.com) distinguishes a flexible delivery-window option from a Priority option with day-certain delivery and expedited transit. That demonstrates how a provider separates service levels; the written terms for your move determine the actual commitment.

## A practical example

A building permits moving only on September 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. A September 18 delivery date alone may not satisfy that three-hour reservation. Ask the mover and building to confirm compatible arrangements before treating the elevator booking as covered.

## What makes a guarantee useful?

Record the date, event, location, arrival window, exceptions, added cost and remedy if the commitment is missed. [FMCSA’s glossary](https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/glossary?ref=relocationecosystem.com) describes guaranteed pickup and delivery as an additional service level with delay reimbursement. Do not assume every use of “day-certain” carries the same reimbursement or claim process.

## Responsibility and handoff

The customer supplies access and availability constraints. Estimating and coordination confirm the purchased service. Dispatch and the delivery team receive the exact commitment and contact details. Keep the written terms and delay records together.
